…. Here, in Tinos, the sacred island of healing and miracles, I live in the midst of prayer. Each day of the year, pilgrims arrive on the ferry, after a 4 hour trip, some crawl on their hands and knees up to the church, to pray. They pray when they crawl, for healing and ….. This is a deep sacred space way beyond time and space. I live here in it. When I am here, I am in it so deeply all else is beyond lost. The prayers are alive, they go way back before this time and forwards to another yet born. The prayers are alive of every pilgrim who came here from the most ancient times thousands of years ago when Tinos was the temple of the goddess Amphitrite, goddess and the sea, worshiped here as the doctor for women to today when modern Greeks crawl up the hill. And inside the sacred prayer we can live in all prayers of all time- pray for women- to keep them safe, pray to love and worship and treasure them as our mothers, pray for mother earth, and the eternal creative goddess. Pray for peace. As my teacher Turtle hawk says, “Prayer is all we have”.
